The Candle Lab Pittsburgh
Into DIY projects? Love the feeling of making something from scratch? Looking for a chill GNO? May I introduce to you to... The Candle Lab!

The Candle Lab is a cozy little DIY candle workshop in Lawrenceville where you have the chance
to experiment with over 120 different scents and watch as a custom, natural, soy candle comes to life. Candles are the main game at TCL, but they also offer options like fragrance oils, sprays, body lotions, salt scrubs, and more.

TCL has been gracing Butler Street with its sweet aromas for a couple of years now and I am so bummed I waited until now to check it out. I have seriously been missing out! Here's a rundown of the full experience:
The Candle Lab Pittsburgh

STEP 1: SMELL ALL THE SMELLS
The first step in the process is literally smelling all of the different scents that TCL offers. As you make your way through the sea of candles, you'll want to jot down some of your favorite scents on a card provided by the lab.

STEP 2: TAKE YOUR PICK
From there, you'll pick what kind of base (container) you want and the assistants will help you pair up a few scents to make your own unique creation. My picks: Dark Chocolate, Pistachio, and Champagne.

STEP 3: GET CREATIVE
Next, you'll need to get those creative juices flowing and come up with a name for your customized scent. Oh, and bust out those art class skills to draw a fancy little design.

STEP 4: STIR IT UP
Once your set with your label, it's time to bring out the mixologist in you. You get to decide how much of each fragrance goes into your candle. Once your satisfied, the shop assistant will bring you a jar full of wax. All ya gotta do is dump in the fragrance and stir it up!

STEP 5: BE PATIENT
The next part is really, really complicated... you have to get yourself ready... to wait! A candle takes 90 minutes to set, so now is the part where you sip your drinks and catch up with your girls. (Did I mention the shop is BYOB?!)

STEP 6: LIGHT IT UP!

Literally. After 90 minutes, you'll get your freshly poured candle—ready to take home and ready to burn!
